Signs in as you

Your assistant uses your Peripheral login. No API keys, no shared passwords.

Same capabilities

Everything the Peripheral app does, with your own Spaces, documents and permissions.

Nothing to install

One URL, hosted by Peripheral, that works with every assistant supporting MCP.

Connect your assistant

Your assistant talks to Peripheral’s server, and the server acts in Peripheral as you. Pick the assistant you use. Each one needs the server URL and a login with your Peripheral account, and the rest is where to click.

Claudeclaude.ai, Claude Desktop and mobile, all plans

Add Peripheral as a custom connector once. It is then available in every chat you switch it on in, on every device. The Free plan allows one custom connector.

  1. Open Customize → Connectors in Claude. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors. Members then connect it from the same Customize page.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Peripheral, paste the server URL below and click Continue.
  4. Keep the authentication defaults and click Add. No API key or request header is needed.
  5. Click Connect, log in with your Peripheral account and approve the access.
  6. In a chat, open the + menu, choose Connectors and switch Peripheral on.

One command registers the server, and the sign-in happens in your browser.

  1. Run this in your terminal:
  2. In Claude Code, type /mcp, select peripheral and choose Authenticate. Your browser opens the Peripheral login.
  3. Peripheral’s Workflows show up as commands, for example /peripheral:wf-due-diligence.
Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http peripheral https://mcp.peripheral.com/mcp
ChatGPTPlus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans

Custom MCP servers are added from the Plugins page (called Connectors in older versions). On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin has to allow custom MCP servers first.

  1. Open Settings → Plugins and click Create (or Create MCP App).
  2. If there is no Create button, turn on Developer mode under Settings → Security and login and come back.
  3. Name it Peripheral, paste the server URL below as the MCP server URL and set authentication to OAuth. Click Create.
  4. Log in with your Peripheral account and allow the access.
  5. In a chat, open the + menu and enable Peripheral. ChatGPT asks you to confirm actions that change data, such as uploads.

Two commands in the terminal, or a few clicks in the IDE extension.

  1. In your terminal, add the server and sign in:
  2. In the IDE extension instead, open the gear menu → MCP servers → Add server, choose Streamable HTTP, paste the server URL, save and Restart extension, then click Authenticate.
Terminal
codex mcp add peripheral --url https://mcp.peripheral.com/mcp codex mcp login peripheral
Grok BotSuperGrok and Cursor paid plans

Grok Bot adds servers from the chat itself, and it needs a client ID next to the server URL.

  1. Tell the bot: Add a custom MCP server called Peripheral at the server URL below.
  2. Check the name and URL on the Add MCP Server card and confirm.
  3. When asked for an OAuth client ID, enter the client ID below.
  4. Click Authorize on the connect card, log in with your Peripheral account and approve the access.
  5. In a chat, attach Peripheral with @Peripheral.

Check it worked

Ask your assistant to check your Peripheral connection. It should answer with your name and organization.

Upload files

Add mcp.peripheral.com to your assistant’s allowed domains first, or the first upload fails. More details

Approving actions

Your assistant may ask before each action. Allow all once, or keep approving the ones that change your data.

For a different assistant, tell us which one at contact@peripheral.com and we will enable it.

What you can ask

Talk about Spaces by name, and your assistant handles the rest. If you are not sure where to start, ask “What can I do with Peripheral?” A few more prompts:

Insights and Signals

Insights are Peripheral’s conclusions across all documents of a Space. Signals are relevant events observed outside Peripheral.

  • “Summarize the latest Peripheral Insights on Acme.”
  • “Any external Signals on Acme this month?”

Upload files to your Fortress

Add mcp.peripheral.com to your allowed domains before the first upload. More details

Add a file from your computer, or something your assistant just wrote, to your Fortress, Peripheral’s document store. It becomes a document in the Space it belongs to, and the Insights of that Space are refreshed.

  • “Upload ~/Downloads/Acme-Q3-update.pdf to Acme in Peripheral.”
  • “Upload this analysis to Acme in Peripheral.”

Workflows

Ready-made reports such as a due diligence or an inbound evaluation, run over one Space. Ask for them by name. Assistants that support MCP prompts, Claude Code among them, also list them as commands.

  • “Which Peripheral Workflows can I run?”
  • “Run the due diligence Workflow on Acme in Peripheral.”

Research

Anything that has to be found in the documents themselves: a figure, a date, a comparison, an analysis. Research you start here also appears in the Peripheral app, and Research you started in the app can be picked up from your assistant.

  • “Using Peripheral, what was Acme’s ARR at the end of last quarter, and how did it change since the previous board meeting?”
  • “Continue my last Peripheral Research on Acme: how does the hiring plan compare to the budget?”

Your Spaces and documents

Your assistant finds a Space by name, whether it is a company, an investment, a fund or a department, and can add a new one when you ask.

  • “Which Spaces do I have in Peripheral?”
  • “What documents do we have on Acme, and what Claims does the latest board deck make?”
  • “Start tracking Acme in Peripheral.”

Claim validation

Peripheral checks the Claims of a document against external sources and reports a verdict per Claim.

  • “Validate the Claims in Acme’s investor update against external sources and show me the verdicts.”

Upload files to your Fortress

Fortress is Peripheral’s document store. It runs on Peripheral’s servers and cannot see the files on your computer, so an upload needs an assistant that can run a command there: Claude Code, Codex, or Claude Desktop with a Cowork session running on your computer. In the browser versions of Claude and ChatGPT, upload through the Peripheral web or mobile app instead.

How it works

Your assistant asks Peripheral for an upload link, sends the file to it from your computer and confirms the transfer. The same works for an analysis your assistant wrote itself. It saves the text as a file and uploads that. Peripheral turns the file into a document and refreshes the Insights of that Space.

Allow the domain

Because the file travels from your computer to Peripheral, anything that limits outgoing connections has to let it through, whether that is an assistant running in a sandbox with a domain allowlist or a company network with one. Before the first upload, add to that list. That one domain is all Peripheral needs.

Claude Desktop and Cowork

Cowork sessions run in the cloud by default, where your file is not and the upload cannot leave. Set Settings → Cowork → Only on this computer and start a new session. Existing sessions keep the old mode.

Large files

Uploads through your assistant are capped at 30 MB per file. For anything larger, use the Peripheral web or mobile app, which upload directly.

Questions

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools. Peripheral runs one, your assistant connects to it, and from then on it can look things up and start work in Peripheral on your behalf.

Do I need an API key?

No. You log in with your Peripheral account when you connect, the same login as the web and mobile apps. Your assistant receives a time-limited token, never your password.

What can my assistant see and do?

Everything you can do in the Peripheral app, with the same Spaces, documents and permissions. It cannot reach other users’ data, and it only acts when you ask it to in a conversation.

Can a document influence my assistant?

Peripheral hands your assistant text from documents other people wrote, such as decks and investor updates, and a document could contain wording aimed at an assistant. Assistants are built to read such text as information and never as instructions. Keeping the approval step for actions that add something, such as uploads and new Research, means nothing happens in Peripheral without you seeing it first.

My assistant lists Peripheral commands such as wf-due-diligence. What are they?

Each one is a Peripheral Workflow, offered as a ready-made command by assistants that support MCP prompts. Running the command and asking for the Workflow by name do the same thing. The command only asks you for the Space to run it on.

Why does my assistant say an answer is still being prepared?

Research runs on Peripheral’s side and finishes in the background. Your assistant starts it, carries on with the conversation, and fetches the answer when you ask or when it checks back.

My assistant does not offer a feature described here.

Assistants load the list of Peripheral tools when they connect and keep it, and each one refreshes it differently. Disconnect and reconnect Peripheral, or restart the assistant, and the current tools appear.

I was asked to log in again.

Your sign-in expires after a while, sooner when you have not used it. Signing in again is all it takes. If the login fails repeatedly, write to contact@peripheral.com.

How do I disconnect?

Remove the connector or server in your assistant’s settings. It then loses its access, and nothing in Peripheral changes.

For anything not covered here, write to contact@peripheral.com.
